You can search for photographs by applying filters to category, user, date uploaded, keywords and data from the EXIF display window. When you search with keywords, you enter one keyword or separate more than one with spaces. Keywords are matched against the camera maker, model, focal length and title of a photo. If a match is found those photos are displayed. Pretty simple and straight forward. However, the way you search on the icameradb.com gallery is a little more advanced and simpler to use than other photo gallery software. Below is a brief overlook of a complex search made really easy for you.

This is what the fiter icon looks like:

Step 1. All photos are initially displayed.
Step 2. If you select a category then only photos in the selected category are shown.
Step 3. If you select a user then only photos taken by the selected user that are in the selected category of step 2 are displayed.
Step 4. If you select a Photo Age then only photos by the selected user in the selected category and uploaded within the selected date range are shown.
Step 5. If you enter keywords, only photos with the keywords are show and that match all the filters in step 1 through 4 above.
Step 6. Finally, if you select a sort order, it is applied to your search criteria.

However, here is the really cool feature of the icameradb.com gallery search. Lets say you drilled down and did a search like described in steps 1 through 5 where you have basically filtered on category, user, age and keywords. Obviously, your result set will be small. Well, don't fret and read on ...

In the navigation box near the top, you will see your breadcrumb displayed. See the image below. There will be an icon of a filter next to each filter you applied to your search. Clicking on any of the visible filters removes that filtering criteria from your search. For example, in the above search of steps 1 through 5, if I where to click on the filter next to the selected user then the results set would change to display all the photos in the selected category, date range and keywords by all users and not just the one selected earlier. This concept applies to all filters.

Sample Breadcrumb

To view all photos with no filters, you can just Click on the top breadcrumb titled All Gallery Photos or simply remove each filter by clicking on it.

We hope you enjoy using the gallery. If you think of other features you would like to see added to the gallery let us know by replying to this thread. We value your feedback.

How the search feature works in the gallery

Update.

You can now click on setting specified inside the EXIF data window and create additional filter on the fly for that setting. Applicable settings will be visible as links. See image below for an example.
